This is the world to be revealed in a grand gesture called The Grace Project.

In this hands-on, Fine Art Workshop, you will come to understand your true reason for being..... ‘to leave a tender trail.’ You will become a more in-touch translator of feelings stirred. Arthur Levi Rainville and Anne Clay's Bio

About our Instructors:
ARTHUR LEVI RAINVILLE, M.Photog., Cr., CPP, API

“Just as Robert Henri is to painters,
so is Arthur Rainville to photographers –
the Poet Lauréate of Photography.”
-Darrell Chitty, Louisiana.

ARTHUR LEVI RAINVILLE, M.Photog., Cr., CPP, API has worked out of his decorous studio in historic Whitinsville, Massachusetts for 40 years. He is widely known for his soft, muted, granular color work. Refinements of this life’s passion lead to his lyrical, quixotic Mansuesco style of today. Defying a definable formula, Mansuesco, much like Impressionism, is a plurality of looks. An innate quality of light coupled with a compositional choreography is akin to his signature style. In a one-man show at the French Cultural Center, his work was astutely referred to as “…a synthesis of observation and imagination blended with a palette of gauzy colors.” Returning photographic portraiture to a high art form is his muse.
Arthur has taught portraiture professionally on three continents, inspiring the budding or seasoned photographer for 25 years - he has launched many notable photographers of our time.
He is a prolific author with three published books on the Creative Spirit and numerous articles yearly in national magazines. Besides being a noted touring lecturer he has Fine Art work being shown throughout the United States, South America and Europe. Having been called… ‘one of photography’s premier creative minds’… he currently offers private consultations and enrichment workshops throughout the Americas and European destinations.

His time is devoted and divided between personal portrait commissions, private consultancy and education and his on-going experiential art studies.

ANNE CLAY

ANNE CLAY has been a force in the art scene for over 25 years.

With roots in graphic design, she evolved into the decorative arts as a Muralist with paintings on display throughout the northeast. Collectors countrywide have avidly sought her beguiling ‘folk art’ work. As an educator, she designed and led creativity programs for college students in the US and Canada that focused on innovative performance art.

Anne currently operates a thriving portrait studio in Apex, North Carolina specializing in women’s portraits. She is widely known for her ‘Over The Moon’ Hollywood style imagery, peppered with a cutting-edge contemporary look.

With her fine art background, Anne has joined Arthur in developing and presenting ‘the Grace Project’ and other enrichment programs for artists and photographers nationwide.

Her portraiture can be seen at www.anneclay.com and her fine art work will be exhibited at www.leegerie.com.

V-Day Apex

Here's my (Anne's) video that will be featured on the V-day Organization website and also Animoto for a Cause Website. It features the activities of V-Day Apex for one month as they raised money to benefit the Apex Police Department in building a "safe" room for victims of violent crimes.

V-Day/ Until the Violence Stops

This is not directly related to The Grace Project - but is certainly an example of Grace at work. I have been doing quite a bit of photography for V-Day Apex - a local chapter of V-Day/ Until the Violence Stops. This group of women have been working tirelessly to fight violence against women and are raising money for a private interviewing room in our new police station in Apex for women who are victims of violence. They have put on a fashion show, 2 silent auctions and will be putting on The Vagina Monologues at the Halle Gallery in Apex this Friday and Saturday night.

Last month I had the privilege of photographing behind the scenes. Great time! I put the images together on a video and posted it to my blog and on my FB account. Animoto saw my video and contacted me by phone saying that they were very impressed with it and wanted to feature V-Day Apex on their new site "Animoto for a Cause". I was thrilled and contacted the local chapter leader who got in touch with V-Day National. To make a long story short - the V-day organization and Animoto choose to feature V-Day Global and the issues in the Congo. This video going out on earth day world wide is a direct result of Grace. s

three sisters

Jours de grâce – Days of Grace

Three sister goddesses of Greek and Roman mythology dispensed Grace through charm and beauty, but their Grace was limited to a visual world.

Our quest is to celebrate the vision of one’s Grace, by understanding each woman’s unique state of being. The idiom of, “in the good graces of..” offers a starting point of discovery. We search for the, ‘privately refined, effortless beauty of manner, elegance of personal style....all a part of your Grace.

With due respect to theology and religious connotations, each of us harbors special qualities of Grace deep within our being – kind of like the silent partner in our character. I have always been of the notion that all of God’s creatures embrace and shelter a simplistic Grace that lives as an integral part of personality. Mockingbirds chatter, Buttercups glow, Oceans flow. Seems that Grace is a defining element in every living thing, be it obvious or subtle.
Grace might be simple but it might just as well be complex – attitudes, behavioral patterns, emotional responses...individual traits that flourish over a lifetime. Yes, Grace epitomizes your enduring emotional response to life.

Your Grace of Being should be anticipated, nourished and honored.
In these Days of Grace, we come together to realize an outward symbol,
a Grace Project self-commemorative Portrait.

Finding my Spirit...

A few months ago, Arthur Rainville set himself on the difficult task of finding and documenting my spirit. I don't say difficult because my spirit is hidden - rather difficult because I'm a rather complex person. There are so many aspects of my personality that you might say I'm complicated. Of course, many of you are the same way.

Through a great process of interview, looking through artwork and questioning others who are close to me, Arthur set out on the great venture with renewed interest. As the process went further, he became a bit confused by my inconsistencies in what I said I liked and what I didn't.

This is all part of The Grace Project -- discovering the beauty and grace that lies within each of us and celebrating it in a beautiful piece of art to enjoy and treasure. This is not a work of art that I will print into 8x10's and pass out to my family, rather, this is one that I can study and look deep into my spirit to remember what's important - on those days that life seems overwhelming and gets away from me.

I will treasure this portrait forever and the process that I went through to get there. It was a time of serendipity.. a personal retreat that will live in my heart for years to come.
